Digital Orthophotograph Errors

Replacement files are now available for both the uncompressed files and county CDs covering an estimated 226 quarter-quads in west central Minnesota. Portions of the following counties were affected:  Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope and Stevens. The problem area was bounded by 45.33.45 on the south to 46.37.30 on the north and 95.15 on the east to 96.00 on the west, excluding the Lake Simon quad in the SE corner. Testing by USGS confirmed an error of approximately 25 meters in the X axis for UTM zone 15 DOQs.

DOQs in this area were produced by a vendor under a contract from USGS. The contractor reprocessed all the DOQs and sent them to USGS. If you ordered a county CD during 9/99 or later, you should have the corrected data. If you have a CD labeled "Mastered 3/98" (Douglas, Grant, Pope or Stevens) or "Mastered 6/98" (Otter Tail), you have the incorrect data and should contact USGS for a replacement.
