Government Jurisdictions

These maps show the boundaries of various government jurisdictions in Minnesota (such as cities and townships, legislative districts, or school districts). These jurisdiction boundaries are important not only because they define the area over which some government body has authority, but also for defining areas for the purpose of statistical studies or determining eligibility for some types of federal aid to local governments.

Although some of these jurisdictions (such as counties) remain stable over time, others (such as legislative districts or school districts) are frequently altered. Maps of jurisdictions that are altered frequently will be labeled with the year which they represent and will be updated as soon as possible to indicate any changes.

For maps of other types of boundaries (for instance neighborhood boundaries in Minneapolis-St. Paul or Census tracts in Minnesota), please refer to the list of geographic boundaries supported by DATANET Plus Mapping.
